“On 11/29/23 after 11:30pm, I was in the process of clearing an exit and at the tail end of the exit it felt like the car was "correcting" itself and I was unable to stay turning right. The steering wheel felt locked and I was unable to control the car. The car impacted the guardrail and I was able to regain control after the initial impact. -This is a BRAND NEW car with less than 100 miles at the time of the accident. - Prior to the collision, there were no warning signals from the dashboard. - I was not injured from the accident as I was only able to go around 27-33mph due to a tractor tra…”

“DEFECT: Steering wheel fails to fully return to center after turns, consistently stopping 1/2-1 inch off-center. Minor steering adjustments stick and don't self-correct. Pronounced binding zone near center prevents smooth return. SYMPTOMS: After curves, wheel returns 80% but stops visibly off-center requiring manual correction. Minor lane adjustments stick and require counter-correction. Constant manual steering correction causes driver fatigue. Progressive worsening since purchase. SAFETY: Incomplete return at highway speeds causes drift. Sticking divides attention from hazards. Emergency man…”

This is most dangerous when I am using GPS/navigation while driving. The screen has gone black while driving on busy highways at 60+ mph, leaving me without functional navigation. Engine 6

“Upon startup in cold weather conditions, a brief but loud grinding/rattling sound will occur. The noise is related to an inadequate spring inside of the intake camshaft gear which will not push a small cylinder in place to lock the intake camshaft gear in place. When not in its proper place, the gear will rattle in its housing, causing the brief noise. If the gear rattles against its housing too hard overtime, it can break and cause catastrophic engine failure by sending metal pieces into the engine, including pistons and rods.”

“Car has broke down a total of 4 times since I have gotten it from Toyota back in December of 2023. I have a dash-cam now that has footage of the car breaking down. Toyota fails to acknowledge my concerns and comes up with excuses and tells me to wait until it happens more frequently. I would love to have this car inspected, but as Toyota has stated they cannot get the issue to repeat. “My 2024 Carola Hybrid Headlights create blind spot in front of the car at night at 50meters to 100m by Toyota engineer design (there is a corner designed into the line of sight of the headlight). Toyota customer care and the dealer maintenance manager is saying the design is safety tested and approved. It needs to be retested at night!!! This is a clear design defect. It is especially dangerous curving left & making left turns on two way back roads and highways. Have to turn on brights to see but that creates risk to other drivers.”

It appears isolated only to situations when I am travelling on roads that were recently repaved and lines haven't been painted yet. How we read this (methodology)

How to read this: raw complaint totals are not a clean reliability score — a model year with more cars sold, or simply more years on the road, accumulates more complaints regardless of how good it is. So this page leans on two signals that are not distorted by sales volume: the share of complaints falling on each vehicle system (the breakdown above) and NHTSA's own crash / fire / injury / death flags. When we compare model years of the same model, we normalise by years on the road (complaints ÷ vehicle age) rather than comparing raw totals. Age-normalised, the 2024 Toyota Corolla draws about 20.3 complaints per year on the road, ranking 5 of 12 among the Toyota Corolla model years we have ingested (1 = most complaints per year on road).
