SaveVIN is a free U.S. vehicle safety-recall checker. Enter a VIN or a year, make and model and instantly see every open safety recall on record for that vehicle (the component, a plain summary, the safety risk, the manufacturer's remedy and the NHTSA campaign number), with no account required.

What SaveVIN does

• Free, complete recall lookups. The full open-recall list for a vehicle is always free and shown in full. We do not hide fatal-defect information behind a paywall.
• A paid $19 report that assembles the extras a used-car buyer actually wants in one printable PDF: consumer complaint history, NCAP crash-test ratings, an estimated market value, and 30 days of recall monitoring.
• Recall monitoring that alerts you when a new recall is issued for a vehicle you've saved.

Where the data comes from

Recall, complaint and crash-rating data is sourced from the public APIs of the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) at nhtsa.gov. The same recall data is available directly and free from NHTSA. SaveVIN's role is to make it fast to look up by VIN or year/make/model, to explain each recall in plain language, and (for buyers who want it) to assemble the surrounding safety picture into a single printable report.

Recall status can change at any time, and recalls apply to specific VIN and build ranges. Always confirm your exact VIN and, where it matters, verify directly with NHTSA or the manufacturer.
