“am filing a formal complaint regarding my 2023 GMC Yukon Denali, which experienced a catastrophic engine failure while I was driving on the highway with my family. The sudden failure created a dangerous situation, placing both my family and me at significant risk. As a result of the breakdown, I was forced to pay $260 out of pocket to have the vehicle towed to the dealership. After inspecting the vehicle, the dealership advised me that the engine requires complete replacement. There was no indication that the engine was going to go. Thankfully there was a shoulder on the highway and we were…”

“On June 25, 2026 my 2023 GMC Yukon Denali with 53,456 miles was brought to an authorized GMC dealership after displaying a Service 4WD warning light and exhibiting a groaning noise when shifting into Drive and Reverse. The vehicle was diagnosed with the following brake system fault codes: P25A2, C0511, C0517, C1595 and C1596. These codes indicate brake control module failure and wheel speed sensor faults which are safety critical components. The dealership confirmed these findings but stated the repairs are not covered under the GMC powertrain warranty. Given that these are safety critical br…”

“Vehicle had previously undergone the GM 6.2L engine recall inspection on October 17, 2025, and was determined to have passed. On June 13, 2026, at approximately 80,390 miles, the vehicle suddenly lost propulsion while being driven with five children in the vehicle. The vehicle became inoperable and required towing. Dealer subsequently diagnosed engine failure and has ordered a replacement engine. This failure happened with out warning.”

“Ok so my first issues were with the vehicle stalling while driving in gear. Happened a few times intersections off-ramps etc…and the car would roll to a stop. Luckily no one killed. Again happened a few times. Went to dealer they “fixed”it. Then it happened a couple other times…scary shit…went to dealer then they“Fixed” it again. Happened again I didnt bring it back. By this point I was carrying a 10 millimeter wrench in the glovebox to disconnect the battery so the body computer would reset. Car would start after cycling the power from the battery terminal. The contact stated that while the driver was attempting to restart the vehicle, the battery warning light and engine warning light illuminated, and the "Low Battery - Start Engine" message was displayed. The vehicle was towed directly to a dealer to be diagnosed. The dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure but provided an estimate for the valve springs inspection. “The panoramic sunroof has a substantial leak, even though the 2023 vehicle only has 33,000 miles on it. The drain lines are clear but water continues to significantly leak out of the rear passenger seatbelt housing onto the seatbelt. There is also significant water drainage through the rear interior lights onto the upper legs of rear passengers (children in car seats), causing a severe electrical hazard. The leaking caused by the drainage defect affects the interior lighting, the seatbelts, and is a potential electric hazard. This seems to be a common occurrence and the manufacturer should rep…”

“I am writing to formally express my concern and frustration regarding the prolonged delay in implementing a remedy for General Motors Safety Recall N252494000, which affects vehicles equipped with the L87 6.2-liter VB engine. This recall, issued in April 2025, was prompted by serious safety concerns involving sudden engine failure and loss of propulsion-conditions that significantly increase the risk of a crash. Despite the recall being acknowledged and a Special Coverage Bulletin (N252494003) issued in May 2025, there has been no clear timeline or actionable fix provided to affected vehicle…”

“We are located in Henderson, NV and we were driving on the freeway in a construction zone with no emergency lanes when the vehicle lost all power to the engine going the speed limit. The engine had seized up which is a known problem with the 6.2L GMC motors. We have done all the recalls recommended by the manufacturer. The engine seizing, locking up , put our family in danger . We were luckily enough to be close to an offramp where people in other vehicles barley let us over so we can pull off the road or we would of been stuck in the middle of the highway with cars flying by us with little ki…”

“While driving in approximately 10°F weather after the vehicle had been parked outside overnight during snowfall in Chicago, the vehicle displayed a warning that said “Do Not Drive — Maximum Speed 43 MPH.” At the same time, the brake pedal became extremely hard and the vehicle had significantly reduced braking ability, requiring much longer stopping distance. This occurred without any brake warning lights beforehand. “I bought my 2023 Yukon Denali Ultimate on or around August 9 2023, and I bought it brand new. On May 28 2024, around 30k miles, I was on the highway and could no longer accelerate. I luckily got myself into the breakdown lane before my car shut down & lost power, ended up being towed to the closest dealership. After 18 days at the dealership, I finally had my car back with a "new engine". Fast forward to November 25, 2025, I was on the highway again, my dash lit up telling me to "press start". “The vehicle is equipped with “rain-sensing windshield wipers” but they do not work due to poor design. They should not have failed this quickly (33,000 or so miles). The windshield wipers must be manually activated because of this defect, but since the manufacturer thought they would be automatic, they made the manual activation very hard to access. It is very dangerous trying to activate them while operating the vehicle because A) your eyes are off the road for an extended period in poor conditions and B) the control is in a hard-to-reach area. How we read this (methodology)
How to read this: raw complaint totals are not a clean reliability score — a model year with more cars sold, or simply more years on the road, accumulates more complaints regardless of how good it is. So this page leans on two signals that are not distorted by sales volume: the share of complaints falling on each vehicle system (the breakdown above) and NHTSA's own crash / fire / injury / death flags. When we compare model years of the same model, we normalise by years on the road (complaints ÷ vehicle age) rather than comparing raw totals. Age-normalised, the 2023 GMC Yukon draws about 52.8 complaints per year on the road, ranking 1 of 15 among the GMC Yukon model years we have ingested (1 = most complaints per year on road).
