“I purchased the vehicle about 4 months ago and I've only driven it maybe 1 month out of 4 due to being in the shop for multiple egr and throttle issues. I am currently sitting with it broke down once again for the same issues for the 3rd time. The engine loses power out of no where while driven and gives a warning that says engine malfunction power reduced and all safety features are then shut down. This leaves my car only traveling no more than 10mph. I was on the interstate!!”

“I was driving to work. I noticed what I thought was some gravel dust behind me. I got to a stop light and my car started shaking. No engine or warning lights came on. I shut my car off and started it up again. It was still shaking. When I pulled away from the stop light, I notice there was white smoke coming out my tailpipe. I immediately pulled over and called the dealership I thought it from and a tow truck. I haven’t been given anything official from the dealership, but the service department emailed me this yesterday: “Car was smoking from exhaust, pressure tested coolant system did not ho…”

“On July 15 at approximately 4:30 pm my daughter's 2022 Nissan Rogue stalled while she was making a turn in a busy intersection. She was able to restart it and make it to a safe place to call a tow truck. There were no warning lights on my dashboard. The vehicle had just been serviced less than two weeks prior. The vehicle was towed to the local Nissan dealership. The next day the inspected it and determined it had overheated and coolant was entering the exhaust manifold. The technician noted that the coolant reservoir was very low.”

The vehicle spun about 145° degrees before coming to a stop perpendicular to the road; subsequently rear-ended from behind. The moment was surreal; I’ve never felt closer to a life-threatening incident because I had ZERO CONTROL over the car: I was spared ONLY because there was no oncoming traffic. My biggest concern is why the safety systems failed to intervene. During the incident, the ABS did NOTHING. Traction Control, NOTHING. NO warning lights cam…”

“The engine failed, and the overheating due to it caused the head gasket to warp. I have multiple recordings from Nissan advising this is a manufacturer defect, but they refuse to fix it unless we pay $5000+. I was driving on the high way and the vehicle shut off. Luckily i was able to safely get off but I was almost struck. I have recorded conversations with the dealership where they confirm they have multiple vehicles in the shop with the same issue. Its sitting at a Nissan dealership after being inspected at this time. There was 0 warning lights. The vehicle just shut off.”

I was leaning in and picking up bags when I noticed that trunk door was coming down. I tried to move quickly out of the way and hit my left side of my forehead. Above my eye. As a result I have a black and blue under my eye and a bump on my forehead and now several days of headaches. So, what is happening is that car trunk door when it was opening reached or hit the top of the garage. That caused it to start coming down immediately. There is no sensor to see if there is somet…”

“I own a 2022 Nissan Rogue with approx 71,139 miles on. While driving on the freeway at 65mph, the vehicle suddenly lost power and became disabled. Prior to the failure, the vehicle did not dispaly an overheating warning, coolant warning, or other indication the engine was overheating or experiencing coolant loss. “The vehicle intermittently loses power and displayed “Engine Malfunction/ Service Now” warnings beginning several months ago. Diagnostic code U0652 (Lost Communication with EGR System) was recorded. This failure was later confirmed by a Nissan dealer, who identified a faulty EGR valve and differential-pressure sensor, with low coolant and internal coolant loss (no external leaks). “While driving, multiple warning lights appeared on the dashboard, including the check engine light, malfunction indicator, and crash sensor warnings. A message then displayed: “ENGINE MALFUNCTION POWER REDUCED SERVICE NOW.” The engine began making loud knocking noises, lost power, and the vehicle entered reduced-power mode. The issue appears to be related to the ongoing engine bearing failure recall (R25A8 / 25V-437) affecting Nissan vehicles with VC-Turbo engines. Because of these symptoms and the risk of complete engine failure or loss of motive power, the vehicle became unsafe to drive and…”

How we read this (methodology)
How to read this: raw complaint totals are not a clean reliability score — a model year with more cars sold, or simply more years on the road, accumulates more complaints regardless of how good it is. So this page leans on two signals that are not distorted by sales volume: the share of complaints falling on each vehicle system (the breakdown above) and NHTSA's own crash / fire / injury / death flags. When we compare model years of the same model, we normalise by years on the road (complaints ÷ vehicle age) rather than comparing raw totals. Age-normalised, the 2022 Nissan Rogue draws about 49.8 complaints per year on the road, ranking 4 of 14 among the Nissan Rogue model years we have ingested (1 = most complaints per year on road).
