“At around 26,528 miles my 2022 CX-30 2.5s (not the turbo) developed a "Low Oil Pressure" warning while driving between 55-65mph on 07/06/2025. The car has had regular oil and filter changes about every 5K miles. The last oil and filter change was at 25,259 mileage on 05/25/2025. There aren't any visible oil leaks. I have read that this is a common problem for other Mazda CX-30 years 2021- 2022.”
NHTSA complaint #11671440, 2025
“It has an oil consumption issue. Every 3,000-3,500 miles is will give the oil low light. It will be 1 quart low. The car takes 6 quarts of 5w30 synthetic oil and requires oil changes every 7,500-8,000 miles. I have had to put a quart in every time. I have taken it into the dealership and a third party oil service as well. The dealership has no idea why it keeps running through the oil. They state that it's a known issue but no recall.”
NHTSA complaint #11581293, 2024
“The vehicle show "low engine oil" warning every 3k-4k miles although I change engine oil and filter regularly.”

“1. The system that is failing is the rear tailgate. When it is opened or closed there is a clicking sound as if it is tryng to engage the lock multiple times. While driving this continues with the tailgate closed turning on and off the interior lights in the vehicle and showing on the front console that the tailgate is unlocked and open. the car is availabe for inspection on request. “The steering wheel seems to prematurely wear on newer Mazda vehicles including my Mazda CX-30 from 2022. Mazda claims hand sanitizer to be the main culprit but I suspect quality issues and materials to play a factor. Many can be found with wear on the steering wheel even starting with less than 50 thousand miles. Some have received warranty claims while others are denied.”

Visibility/Wiper 2
“The windshield is wavy. I don't know if it is the shape of the window, but very hard to see it of. Several owners have the same problem in online forums. Can't drive my vehicle long distances because I get extreme headaches, and visibility is decreased.”
NHTSA complaint #11485714, 2022
“I took delivery of a 2022 Mazda CX-30 recently, and noticed that the windshield was very distorted. Moving my head caused the image to shift in unexpected ways. The windshield was noticeably wavy and caused double vision. The dealer replaced the windshield, but the replacement is also noticeably wavy, with an almost orange peel look through the new windshield. The new windshield also distorts the active driving display as well, which was not apparent on the original. When I complained about the replacement, the dealer's service manager said that what I am experiencing is "normal", and that "al…”

Wheels 2
“The rear wheel bearing failed at approximately 50k miles, causing grinding noise, humming, vibration, steering pull. It was replaced by Mazda under warranty in 2025. The wheel bearing failed again at approximately 59k miles. I have seen reports from other CX-30 owners describing the same recurring wheel bearing failure. This is a known issue that Mazda has not been resolving for the owners and there need to be a recall for this issue.”
NHTSA complaint #11751249, 2025
“Rear wheel bearings failed at approximately 30,000 miles and were replaced by Mazda under warrantee. The same rear wheel bearings failed at approximately 72,000 miles and are available for inspection. Dealer has confirmed bad wheel bearings on both occasions. The potential for wheel bearing failure incudes loss of control of the vehicle while in motion. Dealer has bearing available for inspection. The only warning is increasing noise as the bearing wear.”

Exterior Lighting 1
“The driver side front headlight bearing has failed. Noticed after 43K miles driven. This is a known failure due to a manufacturing defect (see technical bulletin issued by Mazda) however they won't cover the repair (~$1700) beyond 36,000 miles or 36 months. This is a manufacturer known safety issue which could impair visibility while driving at night and could result in a very dangerous situation. The only "warning" is a temporary fan noise after the vehicle shuts down. As a known manufacturing defect for the manufacturing years referenced in Mazda's technical bulletin, Mazda should cov…”

I got out and inspected the tires and observed nothing wrong with the tires. The next day (06/08) my wife was driving the vehicle on the highway (60 mph) and the vehicle started to shake. How we read this (methodology)
How to read this: raw complaint totals are not a clean reliability score — a model year with more cars sold, or simply more years on the road, accumulates more complaints regardless of how good it is. So this page leans on two signals that are not distorted by sales volume: the share of complaints falling on each vehicle system (the breakdown above) and NHTSA's own crash / fire / injury / death flags. When we compare model years of the same model, we normalise by years on the road (complaints ÷ vehicle age) rather than comparing raw totals. Age-normalised, the 2022 Mazda CX-30 draws about 6.4 complaints per year on the road, ranking 3 of 5 among the Mazda CX-30 model years we have ingested (1 = most complaints per year on road).
Before you buy this Mazda CX-30
Don't buy on the strength of a problems page alone. Check the exact VIN of the car you're looking at. The open recalls are free, and the full $19 safety report pulls every complaint, safety rating and a downloadable PDF for that one vehicle.
