Multiple warning lights illuminated intermittently: TPMS, ABS, Traction, brake system, power steering, Uphill, and Cruise Control. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) unexpectedly triggered, and the vehicle braked without warning. The contact stated that occasionally the screen flickered abnormally, the navigation system zoomed in and out unexpectedly, unintended phone calls were made while driving, and the screen occasionally became frozen or was unresponsive to touch. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the infotainment head unit was replaced under warranty; however, the issues persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the dealer and the manufacturer determined that a sof…”

“The touchscreen something’s fails to work. It freezes and it doesn’t allow me to push on anything. If I have it under CarPlay and I’m GPS mode to get directions to where I’m going too and then it begins to have glitches . It switches back and forth from am/fm radio then to pandora then back to am/fm non stop. The screen randomly starts clicking on its own— I tried factory reset and it hasn’t resolved my issue. It often a happens mostly when the screen is hot but it’s done it too when the screen is in normal temperature .”

Forward Collision Avoidance 57 2 crash 3 injury

“I was driving approximately 30 miles an hour with my foot on the accelerator when the automatic braking stoped the car dead. The automatic brake message flashed on the dashboard at that time. There were no cars or anything in front of me on the road. I was then rear ended by the car behind me. The car was taken to a collision shop, and there was a scan done on the car. There have been no other inspections of the cars braking system as far as I know. The problem was reported to my insurance company, Geico. The problem was reported to the police officer responding to the scene of the accident…”

Engine 29

“The car suddenly started to miss fire and lose power. This puts the driver and others in dangerous situations. If it happens when pulling out into traffic and the car misfired it could cause a serious crash. Honda service diagnosed that a blown head gasket causes coolant to leak into the cylinders, leading to engine misfires and a sudden loss of motive power at highway speeds. This issue is well documented on 2016 to 2022 honda Accords. There are many documented cases of this exact premature failure. Honda is aware of this issue and has awarded some owners goodwill repair when outside of warra…”

“I am writing to file a complaint regarding a serious issue with my Honda vehicle involving the turbocharger system. The turbocharger appears to be failing, causing a significant reduction in vehicle speed and performance while driving. During operation, the vehicle suddenly loses power and acceleration, making it difficult and potentially unsafe to maintain normal traffic speeds. At the same time, multiple warning lights illuminate on the dashboard, indicating possible engine and system malfunctions. “While driving my vehicle suddenly would not accelerate above 20 mph and warning lights all over the dash lit up (check engine, abs brake system, adaptive cruise control, vehicle stability, power steering, hill assist, and brake hold). I took it for a diagnostic, it gave a code for cylinder 3 misfire. I got a tune up the next day along with a fuel system cleaning just to be safe. After about 35 miles of driving I had the same issue 2 days after the tune up, this time no warning lights. I took it back to the shop and this time the spark plug in cylinder 4 was bad. NHTSA complaint #11741716, 2026

“When I would go to accelerate onto the the interstate and would hit around 67-69 MPH my car would go lazy and the engine light would come on. This happened about 3 times and then 4th time every single check engine light came on. I took it to the mechanic and he replaced the battery, but said there might still be a fuel issue. I then took it to the dealership and they said I had “bad gas” and wanted to replace the spark plugs, remove the fuel, and do a fuel treatment for 1200 dollars. I was confused on how this could happen and the dealership stated that it only takes one time, so how can I pre…”

At one point the driver assist turned off and the lights were orange but then it went away too. It keeps happening when I'm parking. “Loss of power engine malfunction on 2022 Honda Accord sport 1.5 T experiencing repeated misfire codes, fuel injector failure, and suspected head gasket coolant intrusion. Vehicle has never overheated and maintenance has been performed as required. A second Honda service center advised, they have repaired multiple Accord Sport 1.5 vehicles with the same failure pattern. Honda Corporate opened case #16059306 but multiple voicemails to assigned case contact have gone unanswered. Concerned about safety due to potential engine failure or loss of power while driving.”
NHTSA complaint #11710468, 2025

“While driving down the interstate the car lost power. The engine would continue to rev, but the car was not receiving power and was unable to accelerate. As this happened on the interstate where vehicles travel at high rates of speed, this was a safety concern because the car suddenly lost power. No lights lit up on the dash indicating a problem. Once the vehicle was towed to a Honda dealership, the mechanic stated that the belt in the CVT transmission had "disintegrated". He said this was not something that we could have prevented or foreseen beforehand.”

This issue has occured since i have had the car in 2022, it only keeps getting worse. “infotainment system is susceptible to intermittent ghost touches. This occurs when using any functionality of the screen of the infotainment system including navigation, music playing, apple car play, and hands free cell phone calls. The screen will open up new menus on its own, end a navigation route, place cell phone calls on hold, and not respond to touches from the driver. “This vehicle is experiencing an aggressive, heat-accelerated hardware degradation of the central capacitive screen assembly commonly identified as ghost glitching, culminating in a total crash of the primary graphic interface and touch controller hardware. While your customer service infrastructure routinely classifies display anomalies as low-priority convenience or entertainment glitches, an objective systems analysis reveals that Honda has centralized critical safety telemetry, emergency communications, and vehicle calibration gateways into a single, unbacked hardware node. “The problem is with the Infotainment system. It was replaced once under warranty but is again malfunctioning. The infotainment system controls some critical features of the vehicle. One instance is when trying to calibrate tpms after a low condition, it is impossible to get control of the display as it makes "Ghost" selections or is hung up. Resets both hard and soft do not work. Removing the negative battery cable doesn't work. Note that research shows many Accords and other models are effected. “Within 15k miles the cars wheel bearing completely went and needed to be replaced. The steering in my opinion hasn’t been the same since. I’ve had it in the shop 3-4 different times in relation to the wheels/steering. The car will also randomly brake as if it’s going to hit something when forward collision assistance is on. It’s nearly got me rear ended 3 times. The next day, the contact took the vehicle to the dealer where they informed him that a rock had caused the sunroof to shatter. The contact refuted the diagnoses and stated that a rock could not have caused the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 700.”

How we read this (methodology)

How to read this: raw complaint totals are not a clean reliability score — a model year with more cars sold, or simply more years on the road, accumulates more complaints regardless of how good it is. So this page leans on two signals that are not distorted by sales volume: the share of complaints falling on each vehicle system (the breakdown above) and NHTSA's own crash / fire / injury / death flags. When we compare model years of the same model, we normalise by years on the road (complaints ÷ vehicle age) rather than comparing raw totals. Age-normalised, the 2022 Honda Accord draws about 43.6 complaints per year on the road, ranking 2 of 5 among the Honda Accord model years we have ingested (1 = most complaints per year on road).
