“Subject: Vehicle Safety Incident Report – Fuel Pump Disconnection and Oil Leak To: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Date: July 27, 2026 I am submitting this report to detail a recent vehicle malfunction that posed significant risks to my safety and that of others on the road. While driving to work, I experienced a situation where my vehicle was unable to shift gears properly or accelerate as expected. This loss of acceleration and responsiveness created substantial control problems, making it difficult to maneuver safely in traffic. Notably, no dashboard warning lights were i…”
NHTSA complaint #11753648, 2026
“The high-pressure fuel pump failed, resulting in insufficient fuel delivery to the engine. This caused a significant loss of engine output, with the vehicle unable to accelerate beyond approximately 35 mph or stalling around 60 mph and exhibiting very slow acceleration. The lack of adequate power created unsafe driving conditions. I was nearly rear-ended while making a right turn and again while attempting to merge onto the interstate, as the vehicle could not accelerate as expected. There were no warning lights or prior indications of a problem on the dashboard. The issue first occurred on 2/…”

“Started car. Would not accelerate past 30-40 miles an hour even when I pressed the Gas Pedal to the floor. I pulled over and turned the car off. On restart it seems to be fine. The Genesis GV 70 forum is replete with owners having the same issue. This is a 2022 with less than 25,000 miles on the Odometer. There are not many of these cars on the road and probably many owners are unaware that this seems to be a recurring issue on many of these models. I implore the NHTSA to look into this matter quickly before fatal accidents , if they haven’t occurred already, happen.”

“The vehicle has experienced a pattern of recurring electrical failures beginning shortly after purchase, involving driver door controls (window, lock, mirror, and interior lighting functions), which have required four separate repair attempts over approximately three years, including replacement of a door module, a wiring harness, and a door switch assembly. Despite these repairs, the same driver door electrical failure has recurred multiple times. “The coolant system on my 2022 Genesis GV70 has repeatedly failed despite multiple repairs. On April 2, Greenway Genesis diagnosed a coolant leak and replaced several components. The problem returned, and I brought the vehicle back on April 29 because the coolant appeared low again and the engine sounded louder than before. On October 25, Holler Hyundai confirmed another coolant leak, this time involving the integrated thermal management system. The recurring coolant loss places my safety at risk because it can lead to engine overheating, sudden power loss, or engine failure while driving. The…”

“I experienced a significant safety issue while operating my vehicle. After initiating a turn, the vehicle's acceleration defaulted, causing it to reach speeds of 60 mph in just a few seconds. This rapid increase in speed resulted in the loss of control, leading the vehicle to crash into a guardrail. The incident raised serious concerns about the vehicle’s safety features, including the effectiveness of the acceleration system, braking mechanisms, and stability control. I recommend that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) investigate this issue to prevent future accidents…”

“The air conditioning system in my 2022 Genesis GV70 appears to have a recurring evaporator core failure that results in loss of cold air and unsafe driving conditions. The first failure occurred in March 2026 at approximately 60,541 miles. Prior to failure, the vehicle produced a whirring noise and inconsistent temperatures from different vents, eventually stopping the production of cold air entirely. The vehicle was taken to a dealership/service center, where no visible leak was found after a dye test was conducted. The refrigerant was evacuated and recharged, temporarily restoring operation…”

“The radiator of my 2022 Genesis GV70 was damaged due to debris. When speaking with the Genesis technicians, they informed me that this happens frequently with this make and model becuase of the way the grille was manufactured. There is essentially no protection to the radiator which can cause damage to it without your knowledge. I was told it doesn't take a large rock to damage it and you probably wouldn't even know that it happened. “My vehicle is at the Genesis dealership with what they even consider a common problem. Road debris putting a hole in the unprotected Turbo Intercooler Radiator. This is a safety issue because the loss of power in the vehicle once you lose your turbo. The radiator is very unprotected down at the bottom of the front of the vehicle and Genesis needs to do something about this. This is going to cost me $1500 to fix there not covered by Genesis even though it's a serious design flaw. Exterior Lighting 6
“Vehicle has severe condensation on both headlights (Driver and Passenger) sides. This issue was addressed before and light were replaced by dealership. This is definitely a design defect that allows condensation to accumulate. This has affected proper light projection which would not be adequate for reasonable visibility during dark hours. The amount of liquid(condensation) could potentially cause an electrical failure or spark in the front part of the vehicle. This issue has been broadly discussed in Genesis Forums with no permanent solution in sight.”

“The issue reported has been since day one having the vehicle. The hood shakes excessively, sometimes violently, while driving at highway speeds as well as at non-highway speeds if any significant headwind is present. This flapping creates uneven and unpredictable drag that affects the straight-line tracking of the vehicle under normal driving situations. These characteristics are exacerbated by turns at highway speeds and on surface streets on particularly windy days. As the hood rises, air enters the engine compartment and causes uneven pressure changes and an unpredictable swirling and t…”

How we read this (methodology)
How to read this: raw complaint totals are not a clean reliability score — a model year with more cars sold, or simply more years on the road, accumulates more complaints regardless of how good it is. So this page leans on two signals that are not distorted by sales volume: the share of complaints falling on each vehicle system (the breakdown above) and NHTSA's own crash / fire / injury / death flags. When we compare model years of the same model, we normalise by years on the road (complaints ÷ vehicle age) rather than comparing raw totals. Age-normalised, the 2022 Genesis GV70 draws about 18.0 complaints per year on the road, ranking 1 of 3 among the Genesis GV70 model years we have ingested (1 = most complaints per year on road).
Before you buy this Genesis GV70
Don't buy on the strength of a problems page alone. Check the exact VIN of the car you're looking at. The open recalls are free, and the full $19 safety report pulls every complaint, safety rating and a downloadable PDF for that one vehicle.
