“The vehicle started throwing an error stating 'shift to park' after putting the vehicle in park. When attempting to turn the vehicle off it will not allow it, just keeping up the shift to park message on the dash. I am then unable to lock the doors. This could kill my battery as the engine eventually turns off but the lights stay on. Furthermore, leaving the vehicle unlocked and on for some time puts it at risk of being stolen. It does not happen every time I turn the vehicle off. I have tried shifting it back and forth between drive and park and sometimes that corrects the issue. I just got t…”

Exterior Lighting 3

“Driving home tonight there was a car in front of me so my low beams were on. I saw a deer approaching from the right side of the roadway while at the same time dropping down into a small dip in the road and because the headlights are so low I lost sight of the deer as it was then in the shadows with no illumination because the headlights were now facing further downward. I had to turn my high beams on coming to a complete stop to then see the deer to avoid hitting it. This is very unsafe. Small hills and dips cause you to lose sight of the road up ahead at night.”
NHTSA complaint #11499290, 2022

“The headlight position on the 2022 Traverse is horrible and a tremendous safety hazzard. Driving in rain, at night, the headlights being lower on the front end dramatically inhibits visibility. Unless you drive with the high beams on, you can't see at all. Last week I drove in falling snow at night and visibility was again inhibited due to the position of the headlights. But also, I had to keep pulling over to wipe the headlights off because snow off of the vehicles in front of me was covering the headlights due to them being so low on the vehicle. This was a safety hazzard in that the visi…”

“First I will say I am an experienced driver with 40 years of driving experience and owned may automobiles. This is the first automobile I have owned with LED headlights. During my product research, car review magazines touted LED headlights as superior. Sadly, I have not found this to be the case. I have found with the LED headlights, there is a very distinct horizontal line, almost a focused, horizontal beam of light, which can literally be described as night and day. The headlights, while driving on a perfectly flat surface, illuminates the road quite well in the distance and seem to wo…”

Fuel/Propulsion System 3

“I am reporting a dangerous failure of the fuel supply control module in my vehicle, which caused the engine to stall and cut off during acceleration while driving in heavy, 45-60 mph traffic. While I was able to have the issue diagnosed and repaired by Newman’s Auto—with an invoice available—I believe this 44,000-mile vehicle experienced a premature failure. Given that this component is currently recalled on similar Chevrolet SUVs and trucks, I believe this model should be included in the recall. How we read this (methodology)

How to read this: raw complaint totals are not a clean reliability score — a model year with more cars sold, or simply more years on the road, accumulates more complaints regardless of how good it is. So this page leans on two signals that are not distorted by sales volume: the share of complaints falling on each vehicle system (the breakdown above) and NHTSA's own crash / fire / injury / death flags. When we compare model years of the same model, we normalise by years on the road (complaints ÷ vehicle age) rather than comparing raw totals. Age-normalised, the 2022 Chevrolet Traverse draws about 18.6 complaints per year on the road, ranking 13 of 15 among the Chevrolet Traverse model years we have ingested (1 = most complaints per year on road).
