“Car is displaying a “Steering assist is reduced drive with caution” engine light is on and fan continues to run for 5-8 minutes after car is turned off. Was told by a mechanic it is a P0128 code, coolant thermostat. This is the third time it has happened in the last year. Other two times the codes cleared.”

Power Train 10

“I have been smelling engine coolant for some time and found a leak on the drivers side top seam where the aluminum meets the plastic tank on the radiator. This is a known problem with 2019=2026 Chevy Blazers by GM and it still hasn't been resolved. After researching, I have found numerous Blazer owners that have this same issue and some are on 3rd and 4th radiator replacement. I am afraid to drive the vehicle due to the leak that could leave me and my family stranded on the side of the road. I am also concerned about a major leak or seam separation that could allow a large amount of coola…”

“My engine coolant temperature sensor failed. Replaced it and still not fixing the issue. This takes my steering assist away as they are all interlinked? I have seen on forms this is a common issue. This has the potential to blow up my engine, I’m not sure how this is not a recall with so many 2020-2026 blazer owners having the same issue.”

Unknown Or Other 7 1 crash 2 injury

“Unknown…. Cut open my shin (leg) on the bottom corner of my driver’s door (black plastic side molding). That part is sharp! Required ER with 14 stitches on 9-24-25. As of today I’m still recovering.”
NHTSA complaint #11699650, 2025 · 1 injury(ies)

“The lift gate on my vehicle closed suddenly and for no apparent reason as I was loading groceries into the vehicle. The lift gate hit me in the back of the head and did NOT retract/open upon contact. I had to quickly lift the lift gate with both hands to get out of the way and press the button for the lift gate to open. A couple of minutes later, the lift gate again closed suddenly and for no apparent reason; however, I was not hurt the second time and was able to move out of the way and press the button to stop/open the lift gate.”

Fuel/Propulsion System 6

“Car stalled and told me to put in neutral. Could smell gas. Car wouldn't come back on. Code u18a2 (lost communication with fuel pump communication module), part is available for inspection, we were all at risk due to the car stalling on the highway with no prior warnings, check engine light came on after car stalled, ordered new part from GMC, fix the issue right away. This part has been recalled on other models just not on 2022.”
NHTSA complaint #11744381, 2026

“Driving the vehicle when all of a sudden the engine shut off. All electrical systems continued to function. Luckily this occurred at low speed in a parking lot but had it happened at high speed on the freeway it could have been a huge safety risk. The vehicle was towed to a nearby automotive shop that diagnosed it as a bad fuel pump controller. There is an open GM recall that includes the 2021 Chevy Blazer (and a suite of other GM vehicles), but not the 2022 Chevy Blazer. I am concerned that the GM recall does not fully cover all of the vehicles that could be impacted by this issue. Date…”

“Increasing speed by itself, let foot off gas pedal and gas pedal sticking, 1st time I tapped brakes and it quit. 2nd time it did not. I had to slam brakes and hokd until the point they had overheated and smell burnt and filed a separate complaint for that today. Gas pedal sticking and self accelerating. Pedal to the floor accelerating. I do not drive like that and scared the hell out of me. I bout it 5 days ago from a Chevrolet dealership. I'm tired of rip offs. NHTSA complaint #11697118, 2025

“While driving, the vehicle displayed a “Service Power Steering” warning message, and shortly after, the steering became noticeably heavier and less responsive. The issue occurs intermittently but has worsened over time, creating a serious safety concern because loss of steering assist could occur at any speed. The dealer diagnosed the problem as a failure of the electronic power steering module and rack-and-pinion assembly, quoting an estimated repair cost of approximately $2,500. The vehicle has only around 56,000 miles and has been maintained as recommended. The dealer confirmed the issue b…”

Service Brakes 4

“Incident Description: While my wife was driving our 2022 Chevy Blazer at approximately 40 miles per hour, the vehicle’s dashboard suddenly went dark and became unresponsive. Multiple warning lights illuminated simultaneously, including the check engine light, ABS light, and other system alerts. The dashboard appeared to flicker as though it was repeatedly shutting down and restarting. When the brake pedal was applied, it offered no resistance and traveled completely to the floor without slowing the vehicle. To bring the vehicle to a stop, my wife shifted into neutral and allowed it to coast…”

Tires 2

“265 ./ 45 R21 on our 2022 Blazer AWD Premier. I have the tires rotated every 10,000 miles and the vehicle only has 30,600 miles and all 4 tires have worn out, down to 2/32 or 3/32. I have owned 20+ GM vehicles over the past 25 years and I have never had to replace a tire due to tread wear before 45,000-50,000 miles. This is an expensive mid-range SUV and should not have junk tires. It is also my first GM vehicle that has Continental tires. The replacement Continental tire is $370 each. These are expensive tires and the SUV costs more that $55K, this is not ok. I see there is one other complai…”

“Upon inspection when repairing a flat at a tire service center, I was alerted to the fact that my tread on all 4 tires was low almost to the wear markings. The tires only had at the time 15,000 miles on them and the car is less than 3 years old. I would have not known to check this as it is not in the usual lifespan of a tire, especially on a new car. When reviewing my past inspections at service appointments with my Chevrolet dealership, I can see that they have noted the wear but not alerted me. My tire size is 235/65 R18.”

Back Over Prevention 1 1 crash

“I am not sure I picked the correct ADAS, however, on 3/4/23 we purchased this auto from Beck Nissian in Palatka Florida. When we purchased this auto it was a used car that had not been owned for very long. We were never told that there were factory recalls that were necessary so that all of the options this auto would work correctly. On July 14 I was in a very busy parking lot and back into a truck damaging my auto. I understand backing up is my responsibility but this auto needed a recall for the back up alert to be put on this auto. I believe if this auto had the options it was suppose…”

Engine And Engine Cooling 1

“The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Blazer. The contact stated that the coolant was leaking from the radiator. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the radiator needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the dealer was replacing a lot of radiators for similar failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 49,500.”

Seats 1

“Vehicle gear shifter is stiff and difficult to pass from Park to Drive--the gear shifter gets stuck in Neutral often. The Entire Dash and instrument cluster goes black during driving and will not come back on until hours later even after the vehicle has been turned off and back on. This has caused me to be unable to see my speed, turn signals, fuel gauges or any engine controls. This leaves me unable to operate or control my vehicle. This is a huge safety issue when driving as I am unable to determine my speed or see any of my vehicles controls or warnings. The front passenger seat motor has a…”

Definitely could have been a major accident but luckily no cars were around us when it happened. i rode over a bridge's transition and heard a big pop like a tire. Then it sounded and felt like we were riding on a rim. When we got out we saw what had happened. No warnings or anything before this happened.”

How we read this (methodology)

How to read this: raw complaint totals are not a clean reliability score — a model year with more cars sold, or simply more years on the road, accumulates more complaints regardless of how good it is. So this page leans on two signals that are not distorted by sales volume: the share of complaints falling on each vehicle system (the breakdown above) and NHTSA's own crash / fire / injury / death flags. When we compare model years of the same model, we normalise by years on the road (complaints ÷ vehicle age) rather than comparing raw totals. Age-normalised, the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer draws about 8.6 complaints per year on the road, ranking 6 of 6 among the Chevrolet Blazer model years we have ingested (1 = most complaints per year on road).
