While parked my check engine light came on with a series of warnings: service ECS, service traction control, forward collision system unavailable, reduced acceleration drive with care. Fuel/Propulsion System 91
“The engine in my 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe High Country equipped with the 6.2L V8 (L87) experienced a catastrophic failure. While driving, the vehicle suddenly lost power, displayed a “Service ESC” warning, illuminated the check engine light, and unexpectedly shifted into Neutral. After stopping the vehicle, it would not restart. The dashboard would illuminate, but the engine would only produce a faint clicking sound and would not crank. The vehicle was towed to a Chevrolet dealership, where it remains available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? This failure…”

“DATE: 06/17/2026 The engine shuts off without warning while I am driving, recurring roughly every 10 miles. When it stalls, the dashboard and electrical accessories stay on, but the vehicle loses motive power, along with power steering assist and power brake assist, which is extremely dangerous at road speed and in traffic. This began immediately after dealer service completed on 6/18/2026. During that visit the dealer performed two safety recalls (N252494000, the "L87 Engine Loss of Propulsion" PicoScope inspection with oil change; and N252510321, ECM software reprogramming) and a valve lift…”

“The engine's Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM) lifter failed and damaged the camshaft at around 70,700 miles. The broken components are available for inspection upon request. This failure put occupants at risk because the vehicle suddenly lost power, began shaking violently, and could not accelerate safely in traffic. This unexpected loss of propulsion created an immediate collision hazard. The problem was officially diagnosed and confirmed by a repair service center. It has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives. There were no advance warning signs. At the exact moment of the f…”

This caused me to lose control of steering the vehicle and strike a parked car. There were people walking about on the sidewalk at the time and other cars traveling. When I exited the car I saw that the passenger side was completely on the ground and there were broken pieces and liquid coming from underneath the car. The axel was broken with a clean break. The car was then towed to the dealership where I was informed it could not stay. My ins…”

“GM does not install TPMS devices in spare tires. I had a flat tire in snowy conditions 100+ miles from the nearest place for assistance. After putting on the spare tire the DIC (driver information center) displayed no air in tire. That’s because a TPMS doesn’t exist in spare tires. I started driving a my four wheel drive turned off. I turned it back on and after a very short distance it turned off again. Since the vehicle determined I didn’t have air in one of the tires (spare previously mentioned) the four wheel drive shouldn’t work to prevent damage. I needed the four wheel drive in t…”

“Failed OTA Update to information center (Radio) has caused radio unit and screen to become inoperable. Blinkers do not sound when on, warning sounds when backup camera are in use no longer work, along with cross traffic warning due to this. It should be noted we did not consent to the OTA update, and would have not wanted the update as it has caused damage to this system. GM know this is an issue and has refused to fix this.”

“I was north of Pittsburg on Sunday 30 July 2023 when I seen that rain was approaching. I turned on my rain sensing wipers and as the rain approached and turn into a down pour I had NO wipers. Couldn't see where I was going, went to the left and hit rumble strips so I went right and heard the rumble strips there. Stopped and almost caused a pile up. Took it to the dealer on 03 August 2023 and the dealer (Walker Brothers) Edinboro,PA. trouble shot my vehicle and then ordered me a new wiper motor with NO idea when it will be in.”

How we read this (methodology)
How to read this: raw complaint totals are not a clean reliability score — a model year with more cars sold, or simply more years on the road, accumulates more complaints regardless of how good it is. So this page leans on two signals that are not distorted by sales volume: the share of complaints falling on each vehicle system (the breakdown above) and NHTSA's own crash / fire / injury / death flags. When we compare model years of the same model, we normalise by years on the road (complaints ÷ vehicle age) rather than comparing raw totals. Age-normalised, the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe draws about 71.3 complaints per year on the road, ranking 1 of 15 among the Chevrolet Tahoe model years we have ingested (1 = most complaints per year on road).
