“The driver side wiper stopped functioning during a rain storm. Fortunately, I was not on a major road and was able to navigate. If I had been on the highway, I would have been blinded and potentially in a major accident if not able to pull over expeditiously. This malfunction occurred approximately one year earlier and was corrected by the dealer at that time. I believe some Hyundai Palisades have had a recall for this issue in the past. I am concerned that this has recurred and not been fixed definitively. This issue has potential fatal consequences. I am taking the vehicle to the deale…”

The silver on my rims has also started to peel off. 2. Paint has peeled off in large chunks which is unsafe. 3. The paint has been seen by service technicians at Autonation, where I bought it from and service at a Hyundai dealership. 4. I have not filed a claim with insurance yet as it was recommended by both Autonation and the dealership that it is a manufacturer defect and needs to be fixed by them. They both stated I could…”

“The rear shocks on my vehicle were checked and the left rear is requiring replacement at approximately 33K miles. The leakage was gradual and after the ride became noticeably rough, I took it for diagnosis at Safford Brown in Fairfax, VA. A failed left rear shock was confirmed. I am replacing to make the ride bearable, and in researching the issue, learned of a TSB for my model year issued by Hyundai for rear shock problems. I will request that the dealer keep the bad components if needed for further action to be pursued with Hyundai. The service advisor also noted very uneven wear on three ti…”

“The car will start but would not start moving. The adaptive system will turn on by itself and cause the car to stop moving forward.”

“This issue was first noticed on December 13th, 2021, and has been an ongoing frustration. I am constantly getting this error: "Parking Sensor Error or Blockage." Please take a look at the attached picture as a reference. On February 8th, 2022, I brought my Hyundai Palisade to the dealer's service department for them to find out what may be wrong. Their technician notes: "Scan all modules for codes with GDS. No DTC in any module. Drove vehicle testing all front and rear sensors, and all are working as designed." Please see attached PDF of the service department's official printout. But I…”

“Car was purchased new in May of 2020 and all systems worked as expected. After approx 3 months and 2000 miles the rear backup camera began to pixilate and then failed resulting in a blue screen. Went to a different dealer and they advised replacement of the camera. Returned vehicle to another dealer and they replaced the camera and it worked for about a month then pixilated and failed again. Took the car to a different dealer who checked the connections and cable and advised that the camera needed replacement again. This will be 4 Hyundai dealers that have looked at the car and camera now has…”

Lane Departure 4

“"The front view camera (FR_CMR) failed due to an internal control chip defect. The component is available for inspection — it is currently at the dealership. Multiple ADAS safety systems were simultaneously disabled, including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Driver Attention Warning, and High Beam Assist. This puts both the driver and other road users at risk by removing all active collision prevention and lane keeping systems while driving at highway speeds with no backup warning. The problem has been confirmed by the Hyundai dealership via GDS di…”

Electronic Stability Control (Esc) 1

“TWO ISSUES: 1. WARNING INDICATOR COMES ON ALONG WITH A WARNING THAT READS "CHECK BLIND-SPOT COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM." THESE WARNING COME ON AFTER DRIVING FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES, AND COME ON EVEN WHEN NO OTHER VEHICLES ARE AROUND OR IN BLIND-SPOT. SEEMS TO BE A FAULTY SENSOR. AT TIME OF WRITING THIS, VEHICLE ONLY HAS ABOUT 500 (FIVE HUNDRED) MILES. 2. LOUD WHISTLE/WIND NOISE FROM COMING IN FROM DRIVER SIDE DOOR. OCCURS WHEN TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 50+ MPH. SEEMS LIKE THE DOOR IS NOT SEALED PROPERLY, EVEN THOUGH IT IS SHUT ALL THE WAY. LOUD NOISE COULD CAUSE DRIVER TO BE UNABLE TO HEAR E…”

Latches/Locks/Linkages 1

“I have a 2020 Palisade Limited and I experienced trying to open my tail gate all three ways: with the key, the button inside vehicle and the auto tailgate release by standing near the rear with the key and all failed to open the tailgate. I had my husband hold the button inside while I forcefully pushed the tailgate from the inside and finally it popped open. Then I had an issue with closing it went part way down and stopped. I had to manually force the tailgate shut. I took it to the dealer and after inspection he said it was covered under warranty for 5 years or 60,000 miles as long as it…”

Tires 1

“The contact owns a 2020 Hyundai Palisade. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, the tires were making a grinding sound. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to several dealers. The first dealer diagnosed the failure with tire cupping. The second dealer diagnosed the failure and determined that the rear wheel bearings needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 16,000. This car has become a dangerous noisy vehicle in the rain (due to tire cupping) and a real no…”

How we read this (methodology)

How to read this: raw complaint totals are not a clean reliability score — a model year with more cars sold, or simply more years on the road, accumulates more complaints regardless of how good it is. So this page leans on two signals that are not distorted by sales volume: the share of complaints falling on each vehicle system (the breakdown above) and NHTSA's own crash / fire / injury / death flags. When we compare model years of the same model, we normalise by years on the road (complaints ÷ vehicle age) rather than comparing raw totals. Age-normalised, the 2020 Hyundai Palisade draws about 74.3 complaints per year on the road, ranking 3 of 5 among the Hyundai Palisade model years we have ingested (1 = most complaints per year on road).

Before you buy this Hyundai Palisade

Don't buy on the strength of a problems page alone. Check the exact VIN of the car you're looking at. The open recalls are free, and the full $19 safety report pulls every complaint, safety rating and a downloadable PDF for that one vehicle.
