Within 2 minutes of this light coming on, I heard a loud noise and the tail end of my car started to spin out. My power steering went out, my brakes did not work and I hit the guard rail very hard. “The backup camera in my Chevy Traverse stopped working a few months after purchasing the vehicle new. Whenever the car is put in reverse a black screen appears with an exclamation point inside of a triangle. This seems to be an extremely common issue with 2020 Chevy Traverses as there is numerous postings on online message boards about the same issue of the backup camera dying shortly after purchase with no resolution. Today while backing up I struck another vehicle that was also backing up that I would have been able to see if the backup camera was working. It also appeared the audible objec…”

“The welds that hold the catalytic converter and exhaust pipe together have pinhole leaks. The hose that connects to the exhaust system is also failing. This has been confirmed by the Chevy dealership we took it too. No warning lights were triggered. We heard a rattling noise after having a prior hose replaced. One week later we were back at the same dealership. At this appointment they discovered the pinhole leaks and confirmed there are pinhole leaks while revving the engine to 1,000 RPMs. We requested GM pay to fix the issue and they have refused. Our safety is at risk because no sensors…”

“THE SURROUND VISION SYSTEM NOT WORKING. IT WAS OCCASIONALLY, NOW IT DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. WE ONLY GET A DARK SCREEN WITH A RED HAZARD TRIANGLE. IT STARTED THE DAY WE BOUGHT THE CAR AND THE DEALER CLAIMS THEY HAVE ANOTHER CAR LIKE MINE AHEAD OF ME WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. SINCE THE LAST WEEK OF DECEMBER THEY HAVE CLAIMED THAT GM DOES NOT HAVE A FIX FOR THIS ISSUE. I MADE A COMPLAINT WITH MY CHEVROLET CUSTOMER SERVICE CASE # 9-6485705057, BUT I DON'T GET ANY ANSWERS FROM THEM EITHER. I AM NOT SURE IF THIS SYSTEM IS TIED INTO THE ADAPTIVE BRAKING/CRUSE, BUT I HAVE YET TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TAKE A…”

How we read this (methodology)
How to read this: raw complaint totals are not a clean reliability score — a model year with more cars sold, or simply more years on the road, accumulates more complaints regardless of how good it is. So this page leans on two signals that are not distorted by sales volume: the share of complaints falling on each vehicle system (the breakdown above) and NHTSA's own crash / fire / injury / death flags. When we compare model years of the same model, we normalise by years on the road (complaints ÷ vehicle age) rather than comparing raw totals. Age-normalised, the 2020 Chevrolet Traverse draws about 31.0 complaints per year on the road, ranking 8 of 15 among the Chevrolet Traverse model years we have ingested (1 = most complaints per year on road).
Before you buy this Chevrolet Traverse
Don't buy on the strength of a problems page alone. Check the exact VIN of the car you're looking at. The open recalls are free, and the full $19 safety report pulls every complaint, safety rating and a downloadable PDF for that one vehicle.
