“Without warning, the brake pedal on my 2019 Chevy Blazer became hard, almost as if the car was turned off. I was unable to stop and slowly rolled into the back of a semi stopped at a stoplight. This was moments after exiting off of a major highway and could have been much worse. The car was taken to a mechanic and it was determined to be a failure with the brake booster. GM has issued recalls for this problem in several other models but the Blazer has been excluded. Based on online forums and complaints of multiple other Blazer owners, it seems obvious that Blazers should have been includ…”

This will not allow the car get to oporating temp and could cause engine damage or not perform properly causing risk of an accident. Also this will reduce the driver assist features such as lane assist and adaptive cruise/braking. 3. Yes. 4. “I took my vehicle to the dealership for the recommended oil change on 09/15/2023. I am extremely good about keeping up on the routine maintenance. Upon arrival, the technician asked if I knew that my check engine light was on. I stated no, it was not on during my drive in and has not been on previously whatsoever. I scheduled a diagnostic for 09/20/2023 and brought it back to the dealership with 68,191 being the mileage. It was determined that my thermostat needs to be replaced. “When attempting to put my car in PARK, the car issues a warning stating the car is not in PARK, it doesn't recognize the gear shift being in park, therefore, I am unable to shut my car off or lock it up. It is a known manufacturing defect and GM refuses to cover the cost to add a bandaid to it as there is no permanent fix. This is a safety issue, and now my car is not reliable, nor safe. GM refuses to issue a recall on this.”

Fuel/Propulsion System 2
“I bought a 2019 Chevy Blazer in February 2023 . The vehicle has issues when I fill it with gas. As soon as I gas up to full it starts jerking immediately afterwards. It makes loud popping sounds. The engine dies completely. It starts to tremble and will not go. When I try to turn in back on , the starter works very hard before it will turn back on. It does turn back on eventually but I have to pull over to the side and accelerate the engine until it finally stays on. I drives that way turning off at lights and stops. After about 10-15 minutes of this , it finally stays on long enough…”

“I purchased this vehicle on June 26, 2020. When the vehicle was serviced on May 13, 2021 it had 8,366 miles on it and the tread wear was recorded at 6/32". In late June/early July 2021, I noticed the rear end of the vehicle seemed to slide around corners which lead me to research on the internet the Michelin tires that were on the vehicle. I found a GM Service Bulletin 19-NA-078 dated January 2020 that found issues with these tires. The vehicle's alignment was fixed and that problem seemed to go away. Exterior Lighting 1
“My complaint is with the standard HID headlights in the 2019 Blazer and the very poor mounting system. The headlights are mounted TOO LOW to be effective in lighting the roadway, particularly where no shoulder stripping is on the roadway. Too, at unlighted intersections the lighting so poor that safe left or right turns cannot be accomplished. The HID lights themselves are a poor design in that they do not offer any useable peripheral lighting to add vision to the road shoulders. Due to the low mounting, the HID do not adequately shine light onto the road surface. Rather the available light…”

The headliner would catch the water and disperse water down the interior pillars, forming puddles in the front and rear passenger’s floorboards. When driving on interstate roads at speed limit, the vehicle start's to shake a lot , like a flat tire. I talked to a Chevy dealer service manager about it and he said that their wasn't any safety massage out on that problem. I've never had a wheel snow/ice up like that before !! So now during the winter I check and clean out the snow/ice out of the wheel rim to prevent the vibration and driving problem. No warning light came on…”

How we read this (methodology)
How to read this: raw complaint totals are not a clean reliability score — a model year with more cars sold, or simply more years on the road, accumulates more complaints regardless of how good it is. So this page leans on two signals that are not distorted by sales volume: the share of complaints falling on each vehicle system (the breakdown above) and NHTSA's own crash / fire / injury / death flags. When we compare model years of the same model, we normalise by years on the road (complaints ÷ vehicle age) rather than comparing raw totals. Age-normalised, the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer draws about 22.9 complaints per year on the road, ranking 2 of 6 among the Chevrolet Blazer model years we have ingested (1 = most complaints per year on road).
