“Truck shuts down after running for about 2 minutes; As if the ignition switch was turned off while driving. I then have to wait about 30 seconds to restart the truck. The truck will not start immediately after shutting off. It acts like something has to reset to allow the truck to start. The truck will do the same thing idling in my driveway. It starts right up; Runs about 2 minutes and shuts off. After 30 seconds the truck will restart. This is a danger on the highway. I do not have remote start.”

I SUSPECT WEIGHT OF OCCUPANTS PLUS CARGO IS MEANT TO INCLUDE ALL WEIGHT APPLIED TO THE VEHICLE, INCLUDING HITCH WEIGHT. YET BOTH TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND ALSO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE, HAVE TOLD ME THAT 'CARGO' DOES NOT INCLUDE HITCH WEIGHT. CARGO IS UNDERSTOOD TO BE IN THE TRUCK AND NOT EXTERNAL TO THE TRUCK. How we read this (methodology)

How to read this: raw complaint totals are not a clean reliability score — a model year with more cars sold, or simply more years on the road, accumulates more complaints regardless of how good it is. So this page leans on two signals that are not distorted by sales volume: the share of complaints falling on each vehicle system (the breakdown above) and NHTSA's own crash / fire / injury / death flags. When we compare model years of the same model, we normalise by years on the road (complaints ÷ vehicle age) rather than comparing raw totals. Age-normalised, the 2015 Toyota Tundra draws about 3.9 complaints per year on the road, ranking 10 of 11 among the Toyota Tundra model years we have ingested (1 = most complaints per year on road).
