“My 2015 Hyundai accent started having problems with oil consumption around 65000 miles. I got it checked regularly and the mechanic noticed it after it was having issues accelerating and losing power then cutting off completely. I had to constantly check oil each week or sooner. A couple months later it started losing power on high way and there was a clicking/ticking coming from engine. I pulled over and cut it off. Then drove it slowly (under 30 mph) to car store down the road to add oil but it was fine. Was able to get back home on back roads going slowly. Mechanic told me there oil consump…”

Power Train 5

“My 2015 Hyundai Accent started having issues with oil consumption at about 80,000 miles or so. I was having to check and add oil to the vehicle regularly in addition to oil changes. The oil consumption issue got worse as the vehicle got higher in miles, having to check and add oil every 600-1000 miles approximately. I was not aware of the known issue with Hyundai motors and the oil consumption so I was not tracking milage or dates of adding oil unfortunately. At about 100,135 miles, the vehicle suddenly broke down on my way to work. There was no warning other than the oil consumption problem.…”

“Okay, I'm going to try my best at explaining what I am experiencing. This is my SECOND Hyundai Accent. The first car I had was a 2004 Accent. The second car I have now is a 2015. Both cars have the same exact problem. And I am NOT fixing it. This is definitely a MANUFACTURING ERROR. It's so dangerous too, because my engine could just BLOW UP. Anywhoooo, both cars just BURN OIL LIKE GAS. I repeat, BURN OIL LIKE GAS. I need to check the oil every (at the most) 2 weeks because of how badly oil is just burning up. “AT FIRST IN THE BEGINNING MY CAR DOES IT ONCE IN A BLUE MOON; HOWEVER NOW EVERYDAY FOR THE PAST TWO MONTHS MY CAR WOULD POWER DOWN WHILE BEING AT A RED LIGHT, STOP SIGN, OR IN MOTION. WHEN IT POWERS DOWN THE ENGINE AND BATTERY LIGHTS COMES ON. I WOULD HAVE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART MY CAR. IT NORMALLY DOES IT TWICE EVERYDAY. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD FOR MYSELF AND MY BABY. I'M SCARED THAT A CAR WOULD COME UP BEHIND AND HIT ME WHILE MY BABY IS IN THE CAR. I FEAR OUR LIVES. WHEN I TOOK IT TO AUTOZONE FOR THEM TO CHECK AND SEE WHY MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON THE CODE WAS ALWAYS CATALYTIC…”

“The steering wheel, when in use in turning, emanates a fairly distinct "clicking" sound, whether turning left or right. I have been told this happens in hyundai and kia vehicles, and that there has been some movement from manufacturer to replace the "Steering Coupler" in some models. I first noticed mine approximately 6 months ago. Will I receive a letter for my dealership to replace mine? I bought new (August 2015) and now have only 57,000 miles on vehicle. How we read this (methodology)

How to read this: raw complaint totals are not a clean reliability score — a model year with more cars sold, or simply more years on the road, accumulates more complaints regardless of how good it is. So this page leans on two signals that are not distorted by sales volume: the share of complaints falling on each vehicle system (the breakdown above) and NHTSA's own crash / fire / injury / death flags. When we compare model years of the same model, we normalise by years on the road (complaints ÷ vehicle age) rather than comparing raw totals. Age-normalised, the 2015 Hyundai Accent draws about 5.8 complaints per year on the road, ranking 6 of 13 among the Hyundai Accent model years we have ingested (1 = most complaints per year on road).
