“The rack unit is going out. It makes the vehicle suddenly jerk to the left at highway speeds. It could cause a collision if there is a car on the left or a head on collision if on a two lane road. It also increases the amount of force needed to steer at low speeds. I took to the mechanic and was told that it needed to be replaced and would be 2500+ dollars to repair it and that they could not do the repair their only recommendation was to take it to the dealer. So GM is not wanting to issue a recall because it would cost them a lot of money to fix it.”

Tires 3
“10/6/2023 The vehicle shakes all over the vehicle when driving at highway speeds the shop I brought it to says that the tire tread is slipped and you can see the tread is wavy when running on the lift and is most likely the cause of the vibration. It is actually all 4 tires but a couple of them are the more worse than others. P255/55R20 is the tire size and were bought 9/9/2021 but only have 20K miles on them. I just wanted to report so if there is other complaints about this with the same tire something may be able to be done to resolve this in case this issue gets worse.”

How we read this (methodology)
How to read this: raw complaint totals are not a clean reliability score — a model year with more cars sold, or simply more years on the road, accumulates more complaints regardless of how good it is. So this page leans on two signals that are not distorted by sales volume: the share of complaints falling on each vehicle system (the breakdown above) and NHTSA's own crash / fire / injury / death flags. When we compare model years of the same model, we normalise by years on the road (complaints ÷ vehicle age) rather than comparing raw totals. Age-normalised, the 2014 GMC Acadia draws about 35.8 complaints per year on the road, ranking 4 of 15 among the GMC Acadia model years we have ingested (1 = most complaints per year on road).
Before you buy this GMC Acadia
Don't buy on the strength of a problems page alone. Check the exact VIN of the car you're looking at. The open recalls are free, and the full $19 safety report pulls every complaint, safety rating and a downloadable PDF for that one vehicle.
