“The crossmember- engine cradle that hold the engine in place. I heard a noise and took it to my mechanic he took pictures of the crossmember showing that it is rusted through showing holes. Took it in to a jeep dealer to have it diganosed, they confirmed that it is unsafe to drive as the engine can actually fall out. I contacted chrysler and they said that there was an extension of the warranty on this part that expired a month ago. They sent me to Mopar parts to see if they would pay for the repair. After days they rejected the claim. Now this car is 10 years old however it only has 48000 mi…”

How we read this (methodology)
How to read this: raw complaint totals are not a clean reliability score — a model year with more cars sold, or simply more years on the road, accumulates more complaints regardless of how good it is. So this page leans on two signals that are not distorted by sales volume: the share of complaints falling on each vehicle system (the breakdown above) and NHTSA's own crash / fire / injury / death flags. When we compare model years of the same model, we normalise by years on the road (complaints ÷ vehicle age) rather than comparing raw totals. Age-normalised, the 2011 Jeep Compass draws about 11.7 complaints per year on the road, ranking 9 of 13 among the Jeep Compass model years we have ingested (1 = most complaints per year on road).
